WhatsApp Launches New Feature for Account Protection

WhatsApp is working on a new security feature that will make it easier than ever to protect accounts from hacking and fraud.

The feature, called “Strict Account Settings,” can be activated via one click to turn on multiple privacy and safety tools at once.

According to a report from WABetaInfo reviewed by Al Arabiya Business, this new option was checked in the latest beta version of WhatsApp for Android. It’s designed especially for user who feel they might be targets of cyberattacks or phishing attempts.

What This Feature Does

Once “Strict Account Settings” is turned on, WhatsApp will automatically:

  • Block images and files from unknown numbers.
  • Turn off link previews.
  • Mute calls from people not in your contacts.
  • Limit group invitations to only your saved contacts.
  • Enable two-step verification for extra protection.
  • Hide your IP address during calls.
  • Send alerts if a contact’s security code changes in encrypted chats.

Why It Matters

This feature gives users a quick and simple way to enable all the important privacy settings at once — no need to go through menus or remember each option. It’s especially helpful for users who aren’t very familiar with advanced security settings.

Well currently, this feature is still under development and hasn’t been released to beta testers yet. WhatsApp is expected to make some changes before officially announcing it..
